Closing Out the Year at Derilinx (2025)

Looking back on a Year of Collaboration, Delivery and, of course, Data!

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to pause, look back on the work delivered over the past year, and share a seasonal greeting from the Derilinx team.

Behind each project are teams across the public sector working through real, often complex challenges — improving how data is managed, shared and made accessible, while keeping systems practical and sustainable. This year, our work continued to focus on data portals and open data and data management services, while also expanding further into content platforms, applications and data visualisation — including the rollout of datAdore Insights and a range of new and enhanced platforms across Ireland and internationally. Much of this delivery took place through the OGP Technical Services Framework, which enters its final year in January 2026.

A significant part of our work this year centred on the delivery and ongoing development of open data portals.

Key projects included:

• National Open Data Portal (data.gov.ie): Continued development and support of Ireland’s national open data portal, including the introduction of datAdore Insights to enable embedded visualisations and dashboards.
• Companies Registration Office Open Data Portal: The launch of the CRO Open Data Portal, providing improved access to company data and supporting the publication and reuse of high-value datasets.
• Teagasc Open Data Portal: The launch of Teagasc’s Open Data Portal, making research datasets easier to find, access and reuse through a dedicated publication platform.
• Managed platform services: Ongoing hosting, maintenance and technical support for multiple public sector data portals, supporting stable, well-governed publication over time.

These projects reflect continued demand for reliable, maintainable platforms — and the ongoing work required to keep national and organisational data services running well over time.

Several projects this year went beyond publication alone, focusing on how data can be explored and understood by different audiences.

Highlights included:

• datAdore Insights – The rollout of datAdore Insights, enabling dashboards and data stories to sit directly alongside datasets within open data portals. This rollout included a live demo of datAdore insights on data.gov.ie., showing how interactive dashboards can be created and embedded directly within the national portal.
• Cork City Council – Data Visualisation Project –  Interactive dashboards developed to make selected Cork City datasets easier to explore and interpret.
• CRO data visualisations – Visualisation features within the CRO Open Data Portal, supporting better understanding and reuse of company data.

This work reflects a broader shift towards making data more accessible for non-technical users, while retaining strong data governance and consistency underneath.

Alongside data portals, we also delivered and supported content-driven platforms and other applications.

Examples include:

• Capital Works Management Framework (CWMF) website – Delivery of a refreshed CWMF website built on Wagtail CMS, supporting clearer content management and publication workflows.
• Circular IMTA Demo platform – Content management and platform support for the Circular IMTA Demo project, delivered under the OGP Technical Services Framework Environmental & Social Initiative.
• Global UPBEAT app – The launch of the Global UPBEAT application, developed with the World Bank to support access to global utility performance data.

Together, these projects highlight the growing overlap between content, data and applications — and the need for platforms that can support all three in a coherent way.

In parallel with platform delivery, we provided open data and data management services across several public sector bodies.

Derilinx contributed expert input to the development of key elements of the Data Sharing Support Suite, published by DPER, including the Data Sharing Standards Framework and the Public Service API Standards and Guidelines.

We also published guidance explaining how these documents fit together and how public bodies can begin planning data sharing in practice.

On the data management side, we supported a range of organisations with practical services, including data inventories, data maturity assessments, data strategy development and targeted reviews. An good example was a data quality review for the National Museum of Ireland, focused on improving the consistency and reliability of collections data.

Together, these activities reflect the ongoing need to align data governance, quality and standards with real delivery — not as one-off exercises, but as part of day-to-day operations.

As we move into 2026, our focus remains on delivering practical, maintainable solutions — building on existing platforms, supporting organisations at different stages of maturity, and continuing to work closely with teams across the public sector.
