11 Feb The World Bank Group Energy & Extractives Open Data and Analytics Initiative – Next step forward
The World Bank is doing an incredible work on increasing the impact of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) and Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7 – Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all), and Derilinx is delighted to be part of this journey.
In 2017 the “World Bank Group (WBG) Energy & Extractives Open Data and Analytics” initiative was created to help stakeholders in developing countries to find insights to inform policy and investment decisions.
As a result of this initiative, the WBG and Derilinx created the Open Data platform ENERGYDATA.INFO in 2020 (read the customer story here). It currently hosts 879 datasets and it is available for 192 countries in a variety of geospatial data formats.
We are now on the next step forward in this Open Data Initiative. This week, the World Bank Energy Team will be launching internally the prototype of the Country Dashboard. This dashboard integrates Energydata.info‘s statistics in an interactive platform while providing a snapshot of energy data resources through SDG7 and RISE information.
The prototype is using some of Nigeria’s datasets to layer the map using categories such as “Energy Access”, “Infrastructure” and “Renewable Energy”. In this prototype, the alignment between the Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy (RISE) and SDG7 includes indicators of Electricity Access, Clean Cooking, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
We look forward to keep working this amazing team. Together we will share our passion and show the world how we can create sustainable positive impact in many areas using Open Data.
