Derilinx has been leading Open Data developments, both in Ireland and internationally, since 2010. We have extensive experience in the provision of fully hosted and managed data solutions, notably managing the Irish National Open Data Portal on behalf of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, as well as collaborating with the Central Statistics Office, the Health Service Executive, Dublin City Council, Cork Smart Gateway , and internationally with the Natural Resource Governance Institute and the Landesa Rural Development Institute.

Senior Software Developer / Project Manager

What can you expect from the role?

  • You will lead a number of Open Data projects from initiation and requirements elicitation, through to deployment and handover to support.
  • You will shape the service-orientated architecture design and ensure best practice in technical integration internally and to third parties.
  • You will be involved with the design, development and implementation of Open Data solutions for Government Departments and Agencies, Local Authorities, and private-sector organisations.
  • You will have the opportunity to use a wide range of data technologies, including data catalogue, ETL, visualisation, analysis and geospatial technologies.
  • You will support colleagues during project delivery, and ensure projects are on track and meeting our client’s objectives.
  • You will require strong interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills, as a client facing role.
  • You will prepare and update project management documentation to monitor projects’ progress.
  • You will provide general support regarding the governance, procurement and communication elements of the programme.

Skills Profile

The following skills are required:

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience, at least 3 of which in a project management role.
  • Experience working with Public Sector clients.
  • Experience with data technologies and working on data-centric projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentational skills
  • Experience of having delivered projects for clients through all the lifecycle stages, from design concept stage through to project delivery.

A solid knowledge of the following technologies is required:

  • Python and JavaScript (Node.js, Leaflet, D3)
  • CSS, Bootstrap, Github, REST/JSON API development
  • PostgreSQL, SOLR
  • Docker, Cloud-platforms
  • UNIX admin, Apache admin
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organised in a dynamic work environment

A solid knowledge of the following technologies is an advantage:

  • CKAN
  • GeoServer, QGIS, GeoNetwork, ArcGIS
  • Tableau, Qlikview, PowerBI, Alteryx, SSIS
  • R, SPARK, MongoDB

Software Developer

What can you expect from the role?

  • You will be part of a growing technical team and must be able to contribute at an architectural level on all proposed software solutions.
  • You will be involved with the design, development and implementation of Open Data solutions for Government Departments and Agencies, Local Authorities, and private-sector organisations.
  • You will be required to work closely with business stakeholders and assist with requirements elicitation and documentation. The architecture used is of a very high standard and offers an excellent opportunity to learn new technologies.
  • You will have the opportunity to use a wide range of data technologies, including data catalogue, ETL, visualisation, analysis and geospatial technologies.
  • You will support colleagues during project delivery, and ensure projects are on track and meeting our client’s objectives.
  • You will also have the unique opportunity to get involved in other business areas of Derilinx, including project management, new client engagement, and content creation.
