The Open Data Unit at the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform, published the new Open Data Strategy for 2023-2027 in November last year.
The new strategy was launched by DPENDR’s Minister Paschal Donohoe at the National Open Data Conference on the 23rd of November 2023.
Ireland has made enormous strides in the development of Open Data since the beginning of the first Open Data Strategy in 2017, ranking highest for Open Data Maturity in the EU for three years running. I am pleased to present Ireland’s second five-year Open Data Strategy 2023-2027.

The three pillars of the strategy are as follows:
- Support Data Publishers
- Provide services via the Open Data Platform
- Engage Open Data Users to ensure transparency and relevance of the data provided
